- Real-time practical travel and transport details
- Secure all loose jewelry before swimming in the ocean, as waves and sand can make small items nearly impossible to find without professional assistance.
The incident began on October 19 at Da Nang's My Khe Beach, where a Portuguese couple accidentally lost their wedding ring while swimming. Facing a flight to Phu Quoc the next day, they feared the keepsake was gone forever. On local advice, they contacted beach officer Phan Thanh Trinh, who immediately began a specialized search using a metal detector.
Despite challenging conditions with large waves and shifting sands, Trinh's persistence paid off. After a grueling two-day search, he located the ring on the afternoon of October 21. By then, the couple was already across the country in Phu Quoc. To ensure the ring's safety and provide a personal touch, the beach management team dispatched Trinh to fly there on October 22.
This extraordinary act of service highlights the dedication of Vietnam’s tourism personnel. While helping visitors recover lost property is considered a routine duty, flying between provinces to return an item demonstrates the high level of hospitality travelers can expect. Such efforts ensure that international tourists leave Vietnam with stories of kindness that go far beyond standard sightseeing.
If you lose an item on a public beach in Vietnam, immediately notify the local 'Beach Management Board' or lifeguards, as many teams possess metal detectors and protocols for lost property.
